The JW Marriott Houston Downtown will soon undergo a multi-million-dollar expansion and renovation. This comes ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Houston will host seven matches.

The transformation, which will expand into the historic Battelstein’s Building at 812 Main, will feature 384 guest rooms, “creating the largest inventory of luxury accommodations in Houston’s Downtown.” It will also include 10,000 square feet of additional meeting and event spaces, a revamped ground floor restaurant and lounge, as well as a chic, rooftop space equipped with a bar, restaurant and pool with skyline views.

“We are not just adding rooms — we are redefining the guest experience by creating a hospitality destination that captures the energy, diversity and sophistication of Houston,” said Jelle Vandenbroucke, General Manager.

According to a press release, the project positions the JW Marriott Houston Downtown as a modern luxury destination centered in the city’s business, cultural and entertainment district, and offers convenient access to the light rail and tunnel system, connecting the hotel to major points of interest, including the George R. Brown Convention Center, Daikin Park, and the Theater District.

Houston-based firm Rottet Studio is leading the design for the project, with Los Angeles-based Cole Martinez Curtis & Associates steering the renovations, and Arch-Con Corporation as the general contractor.
