The journey of Jones Hall began over five decades ago; construction of the hall began in 1964 and was completed in October 1966.The Houston Endowment, established by Jesse Holman Jones, built the hall that would bear Jones’ name as a gift to the City of Houston. Today, the city continues to own the facility which is managed by Houston First Corporation.
Designed with the vision of becoming a centerpiece for the performing arts, its creation was marked by grandeur and ambition, and Jones Hall quickly established itself as a cultural landmark. In 1967, Jones Hall won the American Institute of Architects Honor Award, a prestigious national recognition.
The hall’s architectural majesty and acoustic superiority made it a favorite among performers and patrons, hosting an array of illustrious events through the years. Its history is not just a testament to its past but a foundation for its future, continuing to inspire excellence in every performance and event.
