Restaurant reservations in Houston and nationwide are up this year according to data from OpenTable.
Reservations made via the platform and seated in Houston through mid-November 2025 rose 26% compared with the same period in 2024—the largest increase among the major Texas cities. Nationwide, reservations made through OpenTable rose more than 7% this year.
Other Texas cities also saw an increase in reservations, with Austin rising 9%, Dallas up 14% and San Antonio up 16%.
OpenTable is just one of several reservation platforms popular in the U.S. that also includes Tock and Resy. But with more than 30% of the market share, OpenTable remains a good proxy for overall industry trends.
The general resiliency in dining suggests consumers are still willing to eat out despite an overall decline in consumer sentiment as measured by the University of Michigan. That sentiment index has been on a downward trajectory this year driven by concerns over the price of consumer goods, healthcare and other factors.
Cities elsewhere across the South have also seen an increase in reservations in 2025. New Orleans reservations grew 4.8% so far this year, while Atlanta experienced a 4.3% increase and Charlotte reservations increased 5.9%. Nashville, meanwhile, experienced a significant 22% increase compared with the same period in 2024.
