Air traffic through Houston declined 3.4% in November 2025 compared to the previous year, bringing in approximately 4.95 million passengers. Domestic travel showed an almost 5-point decrease, welcoming 3.9 million passengers, while international traffic grew about 2.7% to 1.03 million passengers.

The Houston Airport System welcomed over 56.5 million passengers year to date through November 2025, down 1.6%. Domestic travel dropped by 2.4% YTD to 44.5 million, while international travel reached about 12 million, up 1.6%.

Air Traffic – In the Numbers

Domestic travel was down in 2025, with November showing a 5% dip. At Hobby Airport, domestic travel declined by approximately 8%, bringing in just over 1 million passengers. At Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), traffic dropped by nearly 4%, bringing in almost 3 million passengers. Most major airlines operating out of Houston Airports have shown a drop in passengers in November, with United Airlines losing 2% over last year, and Southwest Airlines dipping 7.5% YOY. United Airlines represented about 56% of the domestic market share in November, with Southwest Airlines taking the second largest share, 24%.

In contrast, international traffic maintained growth. IAH showed an approximate 3.4% YOY gain in traffic, welcoming about 970,000 travelers in November. Hobby Airport, however, showed an almost 9-point decrease in foreign traffic, bringing in just over 58,000 passengers. A declining international passenger count at Hobby Airport has been a consistent trend in 2025, with year-to-date volume gains at IAH supporting overall growth.
