With global events on the horizon in 2026, Houston Airports continue to make improvements for travelers flying out of Hobby Airport (HOU) and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).

From new dining options to an expanded rideshare pickup area, both airports are making key upgrades. Here's a roundup of the latest.

New Dining Options

Killen's Barbecue (HOU)

Killen’s Barbecue, which opened earlier this summer at HOU, is known for its brisket and ribs. Located near Gate 42, the restaurant is open daily from 6 am to 9 pm. Killen’s is considered a Pearland institution and was recognized with a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand distinction last November.

SpindleTap Brewery (HOU)

SpindleTap Brewery, a Houston brewery which opened its airport location in July 2025, brings its “diverse and exciting lineup of brews” near Gate 25. Travelers flying into and out of HOU can sample the “city’s brewing culture” as well as its pizzas and soft pretzels. SpindleTap Brewery is known for its hazy IPAs and has a taproom in Houston.

Urban Crave (IAH)

Urban Crave, a nationally recognized concept from SSP America, officially reopened at IAH near Gate D2 this past July. Urban Crave is known for its “authentic street cuisine” and “translates global street food into a full-service bar and grill experience.”

This summer, IAH also welcomed Chick-fil-A and Einstein Bros. Bagels inside the new International Central Processor located across the new 17-lane TSA security checkpoint in Terminal E.

“Concessions like these improve the passenger experience, create jobs, spotlight the brands our passengers love and underscore our commitment to making Houston a world-class gateway that residents can be proud of,” said Libby Hurley, director of concessions for Houston Airports in a recent article.

New Artwork

Unexpected Spaces by Marta Chilindron, Continuous Motion by Graciela Hasper and Horizons Spectrum by Vargas-Suarez Universal are a trio of new public artworks commissioned by Houston Airports featured at IAH’s new Terminal E.

According to an article by Houston Airports, the newly installed pieces “transform the architecture of the space and elevates the traveler’s journey, offering a moment of reflection, delight or curiosity in a place typically defined by movement.”

New Amenities

As IAH continues to undergo phased improvements, Houston Airports recently opened a new service animal relief area. Located on Level 1 near the C/D/E Purple Garage elevators, the outdoor pet relief area features artificial turf, red rock landscaping and custom lighting, and is designed for quick access according to an article by Houston Airports.

Faster Rideshare Experience

In addition to new dining options and amenities, Houston Airports has also expanded the rideshare pickup zone at IAH Terminal C. The new design doubles the size of the rideshare zone entrance and exit, creating  a smoother, faster flow, and reducing passenger wait times and congestion.

“We’re making it easier and faster for travelers to meet their rides as part of our recommitment to providing world-class service at Bush Airport and ensuring Houston remains a global gateway we can all be proud of,” said Jim Szczesniak, director of aviation for Houston Airports in a news release.

Over the summer, Houston Airports also deployed 36 new ecopark shuttles at IAH and completed the rollout of a cashless parking system at both airports.

Whether travelers are arriving in Houston or departing, each airport offers new and improved features to make the journey more seamless.
