A growing number of U.S. leisure travelers are busy planning their next trips. Sixty-one percent of Americans say they plan to take a vacation in the next six months, according to Q1 data from travel intelligence group MMGY Global. That’s up from 58% in Q4 2022. Another 18% of respondents in the most recent survey say they are planning a trip beyond the six-month window.

Breaking down the numbers, 82% of those with a household income of $150,000 to $249,000 say they are planning a trip in the next six months, up from 74% in Q4. Sixty-four percent of those with household incomes greater than $250,000 say they are planning a trip in the near term, down from 75% in the previous quarter. Respondents in other income brackets were largely unchanged quarter to quarter.

Looking at generational trends, 54% of those in GenZ say they plan to travel in the next six months, up from 46% in Q4. Plans among the other generation groups were either unchanged or up slightly.

When it comes to business travel, just 25% of total respondents expect to take a work trip in the next six months, on par with the 24% who anticipated such trips in Q4. Another 7% say they are planning a work trip beyond the next six months.
