This year, several Houston hotels announced and began renovations designed to bring new life to those properties and enhance the guest experience.
Here’s a roundup of some of those updates.
Embassy Suites Houston Downtown
Located in the 1500-block of Dallas Street and within proximity to the George R. Upgrades included a transformation of all guestrooms, meeting spaces and public areas.
Located near the center of Downtown, JW Marriott Houston is undergoing a multi-million-dollar expansion and renovation.
The transformation, which will expand the hotel into the historic Battelstein’s Building, will feature 56 additional guest rooms, bringing the property's total to 384 rooms. In addition, the expansion will also include 10,000 square feet of new meeting and event spaces, a revamped ground floor restaurant and lounge, as well as a chic, rooftop space equipped with a bar, restaurant and pool with skyline views.
The Greenleigh Hotel
Previously known as Hotel Derek, The Greenleigh Hotel located near the Galleria, is currently undergoing a major overhaul. According to Chron.com, the “renovations will include alterations to the existing 14-story hotel that could encompass building interior spaces and changes to guest room areas.”

Upgrades include a complete transformation of the Ballpark Bar, Ballpark Café and the main entrance as well as updates to the 200 guest rooms, fitness room and meeting areas. The refreshed rooms, inspired by Houston’s bayous, include new flooring, enhanced amenities, lighting fixtures, and technology enhancements.
Located near the Energy Corridor, Hilton Houston Westchase, is undergoing a multimillion-dollar transformation that’s slated for completion in mid-2026.
The hotel is getting a complete overhaul that will include updates from a reimagined lobby that creates an open, light-filled gathering space to contemporary guest rooms catering to how today’s travelers live and work. Additional upgrades are being made to meeting and social spaces.
Looking ahead, more properties are preparing for transformations. Among them is the dual-branded Hampton Inn & Suites and Homewood Suites, which owner American Liberty Hospitality has said will soon get an update of its own.
