Just in time for December holiday travel, George Bush International Airport will open a new International Arrivals Curb this weekend.
Why it matters: The current arrival area for Terminal E, which facilitates most international flights, has been a chaotic experience for travelers for nearly three years. The temporary situation was necessary to facilitate construction of a new $1.4 billion international terminal but created an often congested and chaotic pickup situation with significant traffic bottlenecks.
The new International Arrivals Curb will include eight dedicated lanes for pick up, expanded capacity and a modern design that prioritizes safety and efficiency, according to Houston Airports. Six of the eight lanes will come online this Saturday December 14, with the remaining two to follow.
What they're saying: Houston Airports Aviation Director Jim Szczesniak said he and his team listened to customer feedback and worked to address frustrations with a modern solution. “This marks a new chapter in how we serve our passengers, fulfilling our commitment to providing a world-class experience while laying the groundwork for the future of international travel in Houston," Szczesniak said.
