Fundraising event returning to buoy business during slow period and help fight hunger

One of Houston's favorite culinary traditions is back for its 23rd year.

Houston Restaurant Weeks returns Aug. 1 through Sept. 7, offering 38 days of specially priced prix fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus while raising money for the Houston Food Bank and its partner distribution organizations throughout the region. Since its inception in 2023, the event has raised more than $23 million, helping provide the equivalent of more than 70 million meals for food-insecure residents throughout Southeast Texas.

While guests enjoy specially priced multi-course menus, participating restaurants make donations based on meals sold, generating funds that help support the Houston Food Bank's mission. Every $1 donated helps provide three meals to those in need.

As of late July, 328 restaurants were listed on the Houston Restaurant Weeks website, with organizers expecting more than 350 restaurants to participate by the time the event begins. Participating restaurants span neighborhoods and communities across Greater Houston, from Downtown and the Inner Loop to Sugar Land, The Woodlands and Galveston.

Dining Out for a Cause
Houston Restaurant Weeks features prix fixe menus priced at $25 for brunch and lunch, $39 for select dinner menus and $55 for premium dinner experiences.

Restaurants donate $1 from each brunch and lunch sold, $3 from each $39 dinner and $5 from each $55 dinner.

The event generated a $1.65 million donation to the Houston Food Bank and affiliate food banks following its 2025 campaign. While down from the record-setting $2.01 million raised in 2024, the event continues a more than two-decade tradition of supporting hunger relief while driving business to local restaurants during what has historically been one of the year's slower periods for the industry.

The late Cleverley Stone founded Houston Restaurant Weeks, which has grown into the largest annual fundraiser for the Houston Food Bank.

"My mother started Houston Restaurant Weeks in 2003 to help restaurants through their hardest month, and that mission has never mattered more than it does right now," Katie Stone, president of The Cleverley Stone Foundation, said in a statement.

"So many of our restaurants are fighting to stay open in a difficult economy. When Houstonians choose to Dine Out & Do Good, they are not only helping feed families through the Houston Food Bank, they are throwing a lifeline to the local businesses and the people behind them who make this city what it is. Every reservation truly makes a difference."

For customers, Houston Restaurant Weeks offers an opportunity to explore new restaurants, revisit local favorites and support a cause that benefits communities throughout Harris, Galveston and Montgomery counties.
