Business travel confidence is rebounding as the industry heads toward 2027, and Houston is seeing signs of that momentum in its visitor market.
Data from Houston First Corporation shows business-based hotel room nights booked in 2026 are up compared with the same period last year, providing a positive sign for Houston’s hospitality momentum entering Q4.
The local growth comes as confidence in business travel improves nationally.
According to an article from Hotel Dive, recent Global Business Travel Association poll found 63% of business travel professionals are optimistic about the industry outlook moving into 2027, up from 41% in April. Pessimism fell from 24% to 7% over the same period.
Wider expectations for travel activity are also improving. Some 45% of respondents expect the number of business trips taken by their organizations in 2026 to increase year over year, compared with 30% in April. More than half of corporate travel buyers also expect their travel spending to increase this year.
The rebound could be particularly encouraging for Houston’s tourism sector, where increased business travel has the potential to support additional hotel demand.
Broader challenges remain, namely rising travel costs and geopolitical uncertainty. But the combination of improving nationwide business travel confidence and growing business-based hotel bookings in Houston provides a positive signal for the city’s hospitality sector heading into 2027.
