Two Houston-area hotels have recently completed multi-million-dollar renovations that aim to keep them competitive in the market.

Fertitta Hospitality announced last month that it had completed renovations of the Hilton Galveston Island Resort on the Seawall. The 239-room hotel has gotten a modern facelift with upgraded guest rooms, a new innovative restaurant concept and bar, revitalized pool deck and fitness center and upgraded meeting spaces.

The guest room updates include new lighting and furniture as well as tile flooring and walk-in showers. Each room has a beach-inspired vibe with colors reminiscent of the ocean and shore. Artwork in the rooms as well as public spaces showcases Galveston’s unique island charm.

Modernized meeting spaces at the property include the 1,380-square-foot Oasis and 3,500-square-foot Oceanfront ballrooms with new carpets, elegant chandeliers and upgraded internet.

The Hilton Galveston Island’s new 5400 Bistro combines industrial port-inspired décor with a menu offering a variety of casual yet elevated dishes with some international flavors and fresh local ingredients. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as weekend brunch. The expanded lobby bar now stretches to 1,600 square feet while the pool area has new cabanas, fire pits, and more.

“This transformation is a testament to our dedication to providing an unparalleled guest experience,” said Jeremy Bukac, General Manager of Hilton Galveston Island Resort. “These renovations mark a new era for the resort, blending contemporary amenities with the coastal charm our guests are known to love.”

On Houston’s west side, The Moran CityCentre has also completed a major upgrade courtesy of real estate ownership group Midway. A new front desk, lobby bar and terrace space and completely refreshed guest rooms are all part of the effort to revitalize this unique property. Situated in the middle of CityCentre’s bustling mixed-use development, The Moran was recently named a “top 3” Houston hotel by Travel + Leisure.

“With the newly enhanced property we wanted to create a space that appealed to both travelers and visitors alike,” shared Bo Sanford, of Midway. “We are continuously creating a dynamic and curated environment of retail, office and hotel offerings that strengthen CityCentre.”

A key highlight of the extensive renovation, The Moran now features a lively new venue, The Allegory Bar, along with its adjacent terrace overlooking the development’s central plaza. Offering a mix of traditional bar seating and cozy lounge areas, The Allegory Bar features regular happy hours, themed cocktail nights, and interactive mixology classes.

As part of the extensive renovation, all 244 guestrooms have been updated with stylish new furnishings, premium bedding, modern lighting, and technology upgrades. Thoughtfully curated amenities, including bar carts stocked with Texas-based liquors, a selection of snacks and Illy coffee service, custom bath products, robes, and handheld steamers, further enhance the guest experience.
