Downtown Houston's dining scene is set to gain two new restaurants as the JW Marriott Houston Downtown completes a major property expansion connecting the historic Samuel F. Carter Building and neighboring Battelstein's Building.

Located at 806 Main Street, the hotel has officially opened The Foundry, a reimagined restaurant and lobby bar replacing Main Kitchen & 806 Lounge, while The Perch, a new rooftop restaurant and pool lounge overlooking downtown Houston, is scheduled to debut on December 1.

Together, the concepts are central to the hotel's multi-year renovation, which expands its dining offerings while creating new experiences for both visitors and locals.

"They are two different experiences and identities built around a single philosophy," said Andrew Gallacher, the hotel's director of food and beverage. "Our common goal is exceptional food, outstanding beverages, and uncompromising guest service."

A New Chapter for a Downtown Favorite

Now open to the public, The Foundry represents a complete redesign of the hotel's signature restaurant and bar.

The expanded concept features modern American cuisine with multicultural influences, offering everything from breakfast tacos and churro waffles to steak frites, Gulf snapper, brisket empanadas and red snapper aguachile.

An extensive whiskey selection, craft cocktails and a dedicated bar menu further expand the experience.

The Foundry is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

An Upcoming Rooftop Dining Experience

Located along the pool deck atop the 10-story Battelstein's Building, The Perch will offer an indoor-outdoor dining experience featuring skyline views, poolside seating for 45 total guests, and a menu from Executive Chef Rafael Gonzales.

Menu highlights include Gulf shrimp and octopus campechana, burrata caprese, Michoacán carnitas tacos and grilled mahi mahi tacos, alongside a collection of destination-inspired cocktails.

The Perch will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. after its grand opening.

Expanding Downtown Houston's Hospitality Scene

The new restaurants will bring a new rooftop destination, a reimagined signature restaurant and thoughtful touches such as an aeroponic herb garden, locally sourced honey and expanded zero-proof cocktail offerings to the heart of downtown – marking the next chapter in the JW Mariott Houston Downtown’s transformation.
