Houston Airports continues to elevate the overall air passenger journey for passengers flying out of Hobby Airport (HOU) and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).
Over the past year both airports have welcomed new restaurants and according to Jim Szczesniak, director of aviation for Houston Airports, it’s more than that, “it’s about creating a dynamic, world-class experience for our passengers."
Here’s a round up of a few of those newest restaurants redefining the airport dining experience.
The Rustic (HOU)
The Rustic, a Texas restaurant which opened earlier this month at HOU, brings its farm-to-table cuisine, live music and relaxed atmosphere to travelers. Located near Gate 44, The Rustic offers sit-down dining and to go options. “Our journey is one of passion and community, bringing people together through shared experiences.”
The Kitchen (IAH)
The Kitchen, which opened in November 2024 at IAH’s new Terminal D, is known for its comfort food dishes and brunch. The restaurant offers vegetarian options and is open daily from 6 am to 9 pm. The Kitchen also has a location in the Woodlands.
The Annie Cafe & Bar (IAH)
Houston’s longtime restaurant The Annie Café and Bar opened at IAH’s new Terminal D in November 2024 and offers a fresh take on Texas-influenced American cuisine. Travelers flying into and out of IAH can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner and some signatures like crab tostadas and the Café Burger.
Fat Cat Creamery (HOU)
Fat Cat Creamery, which opened in 2024 at HOU, is known for it’s “unique, small-batch ice cream with local ingredients.” The Parlour offers gluten free options, a kid friendly menu, local and vegan options and is located at Gate 27 at HOU.
Concessions rewards
Houston Airports has launched a new concessions loyalty rewards program, FlyHouston Rewards, that will allow passengers to earn points for “shopping, dining and parking while offering valuable rewards that enhance their time at Houston’s airports.”
Looking forward, the Houston Airports food scene will continue to grow to include the opening of Simone Biles restaurant A Taste of Gold, which is under construction at IAH Terminal A and set to open in the first quarter of this year.
