Texas Tribune, Houston First to host preview of 84th legislative session

HOUSTON – The first in a series of four panel discussions focused on the debates of the 84th legislative session and their impact on the Houston area will take place on Thursday, February. 12, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Wortham Center’s Grand Foyer at 501 Texas Ave. in downtown Houston. The event, “Houston & the Legislature: Previewing the 84th Session,” is presented by The Texas Tribune, in partnership with Houston First, and will feature a discussion with local lawmakers including state Sen. Sylvia Garcia of Houston and state Reps. Garnet Coleman of Houston, Jim Murphy of Houston and Debbie Riddle of Tomball. The discussion will be moderated by Evan Smith, The Texas Tribune’s CEO and editor-in-chief, and will conclude with an audience Q&A session. Registration for this event is free and now open at texastribune.org/events. Lunch will be provided, and paid parking will be available in the underground Theater District garage. The event will also be livestreamed beginning at noon at texastribune.org/livestream, and the full video will be available post-event at texastribune.org.
