Houston, TX (September 3, 2017) - The Theater District parking garages operated by Houston First Corporation are closed until further notice. All three levels of the underground parking garages filled with flood waters from Hurricane Harvey on Sunday and remain inaccessible.
Houston First is assessing damages, and working with contractors to safely and efficiently pump water out of the garages. Although the pumping process has begun, full restoration of the garages could take weeks.
In the meantime, alternative parking arrangements are underway for our valued contract parking customers. Houston First is making available 2,000 spaces in several other parking facilities it operates. We are also working with our parking partner, Republic Parking System, and have secured space at additional locations in the downtown area.
Just as so many of our friends and neighbors have heroically showcased the true Heart of Houston during this unprecedented storm, we are humbled by the patience, support and understanding of our partners in the performing arts community and their patrons, as well as our more than three thousand contract parking customers. Houston First continues to do all it can to get the Theater District parking garages fully operational as soon as possible, while making sure there are minimal parking inconveniences to all who use the underground garages.
The Theater District underground parking garage includes three garages (green, yellow and blue), which span 18 underground blocks and consists of 3,369 parking spaces.
