Visit Houston client services manager honored for spirit of volunteerism
Houston, TX – October 4, 2016 –  Brian Stonesifer, client services manager for Houston First Corporation’s sales and marketing brand Visit Houston, is the first recipient of the Terry Beutler Award for volunteerism.

Mike Waterman, president of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau and executive vice president of Houston First, made the announcement Friday at Houston First’s Employee Service Awards ceremonies at Wortham Theater Center.

The newly created Terry Beutler Award recognizes an employee who goes out of their way to help others and make Houston a kinder place. Terry Beutler, Houston First’s former senior vice president of destination services, died unexpectedly at home in June.
“Those of us who worked with Terry knew of her relentless efforts to advance Houston First’s goals, but were not aware of her many hours of selfless volunteer work,” Waterman said.

“Brian’s efforts reflect the ideals symbolized by this award.”

Stonesifer, an avid marathon runner, has given many hours as a volunteer coach to assist newcomers to running, particularly those training for the Chevron Houston Marathon. He also gave many hours of service to the city’s hospitality efforts during the 2016 Men’s Final Four basketball tournament.

Stonesifer joined the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau in 2012. Previously, he held director of sales positions at Holiday Inn Express in Sugar Land, Hotel Indigo in Houston and Park Plaza Hotel at Reliant Center.
