Passenger traffic at all Houston airports rose 9.3% in April compared with April 2022.
The details: A total of 3.3 million passengers moved through George Bush Intercontinental Airport in April, up 10.6% from a year earlier. Hobby Airport moved 1.08 million passengers during the month, up 5.3% from a year ago.
Bush airport experienced an impressive 19.2% increase in international traffic during the month as more pandemic-related restrictions have eased abroad.
Broader view: Passenger traffic at the two airports was up 17.7% in the first four months of this year, compared with the same period a year ago. Bush airport experienced a 20% increase in traffic while Hobby rose 10.8% year-over-year.
Among the largest airlines operating out of Houston’s two passenger airports, United Airlines handled nearly 2.7 million passengers in April, up 7% compared with April 2022. Southwest Airlines handled 1.1 million passengers, up 2.7% year-over-year.
