Houston First educates during Earth Week

Houston • May 20, 2019

Earth Day was celebrated across the country on April 22. Houston First kicked off its celebration for the home planet a week earlier by partnering with Discovery Green Earth Day Family Fun Day. Houston First Sustainability Manager, Wanda Adams also organized a week of green-themed activities and information for HFC employees that promoted paths to healthier earth.  The week ended with a nod to the overall theme “Protecting our Species.”  Students from Peck Elementary came to the George R. Brown Convention Center to learn more about our recycling programs and the importance role bees play in our own survival.  A whole crew was on hand to educate and share personal stories about the knowledge of bees with the young students.

People involved in the education program included:
Wanda Adams, Sustainability Manager, Houston First Corporation
Christine West, Cultural Programs Manager, Houston First Corporation
Harrison Rogers, Vice President of The Harris County Beekeepers Association
Michael Scheyer, Executive Steward, Levy Restaurants
Dominic Soucie, Executive Chef, Levy Restaurants
Dr. and Mrs. Bee from Busy Bee, Inc.
