This summer Houston First is again delighted to display looks from the Houston Community College’s Fashion Design. These gowns walked the runway at the Museum of Fine Art, Houston in June, as part of the annual program Fashion Fusion. HCC Fashion Design students and alumni created original designs inspired by the works in the exhibition Vincent Van Gogh: His Life and Work on view at the MFAH. Themes represented in the looks mirror stages from the artist’s life including inception, awakening, euphoria and melancholy. The designer's interplay of traditional and unconventional materials and techniques speaks to moving personal narratives revealed in Van Gogh's paintings. The looks are touring Houston signature local fashion boutiques and public spaces and are on view in the Partnership Tower Level 1 Entrance Lobby from July 22 – August 8, 2019.
These gowns were carefully selected to be displayed within the current exhibition of paintings and sculptures by local artist Fariba Abedin.
