Houston First's Reginald Randolph named Parking Innovator

Theater District Parking GM Named Innovator of the Year by National Association
 
Houston, TX – September 29, 2016 – Reginald Randolph, Houston First Corporation’s highly decorated general manager of Theater District Parking, continues to be recognized as a leader in the industry after chalking up a major national award.

The National Parking Association named Randolph the Innovator of the Year at the organization's 65th annual Convention & Expo recently in Atlanta.

Earlier this year, he received an Award of Excellence from the Texas Parking and Transportation Association.

“Nobody takes care of our customers quite like Reginald Randolph,” said Dawn Ullrich, president and CEO of Houston First. “The parking business doesn’t lend itself to instant feedback. You park your car and pick it up nine hours later, often without interacting with us.

“But Reginald’s out in the garage every day – never just sequestered in his office – meeting with our customers and asking how we can improve our service. He also is a bit of a techie so he pays attention to industry trends and looks for products that can help our customers.

“It’s gratifying that a national organization recognizes in Reginald what his colleagues have known for a long time, namely he’s the best.”

Theater District Parking, located in the heart of downtown Houston, is a 3,400-space garage that serves nine performing arts venues, as well as office workers.

Randolph led a fully integrated, organization-wide technology upgrade to increase operational efficiency. He also instituted a revenue control system upgrade to a cloud-based structure, which has improved entry times and streamlined operations.

He spearheaded the installation of a parking guidance system and it was his idea to install 95 two-way cameras in the garage to allow customers to interface with parking staff at the touch of a button. A customizable matrix signage and wayfinding system further supports parking guidance, and a barcode system simplifies parking validation for customers and employees alike.

Randolph is a 26-year employee of Houston First. He is a native of Houston and a graduate of Sam Houston State University.
