Houston First Corporation was a sponsor for Houston Arts Alliance’s glamorous gala evening, featuring six-time Tony Award-winning performer Audra McDonald, on April 6 at the Hotel Za Za.
HAA chair Philamena Baird, event co-chairs Regina Garcia and George Lancaster and honorary chairs Phoebe and Bobby Tudor were among those on hand to honor Minnettte Boesel, former cultural affairs assistant to Houston mayors Annise Parker and Bill White, and the late Stephanie Smither, a self-taught art collector and philanthropist.
Houston First chairman David Mincberg, shown above with his wife Lainie Gordon, was among those in attendance.
Funds raised during the evening will be used to support programming to help arts organizations and individual artists become effective stewards of their resources. HAA is the city’s designated, local arts and culture agency. Part of its mission is the commissioning, conserving and promoting public art and enlivening public spaces.
