Houston First finds its voice in Super Bowl literacy effort

Houston • Oct. 31, 2016

Houston First and the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee and the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy read in a unified voice Friday to kick off 100 days until the 2017 Super Bowl.

Houston First’s very own Wanda Adams and Arcy Muñoz were featured as reading captains for the event dubbed “Touchdown Houston, Read On” at Young Elementary in southwest Houston.

Special guests included former Houston Texan Wade Smith, left, and ex-Tampa Bay Buccaneer Ellis Wyms. Smith and Wyms are both deeply involved in writing and literacy initiatives in their post-playing days.

Children from Young Elementary were excited to take home six new books courtesy of the Barbara Bush Foundation.
